Two militants were killed in an encounter with security forces in Redwani area of Qaimoh in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Tuesday.
A army man identified as Prakash Yadav was also critically injured in the gunfight, officials said.
Reports said that a joint team of army’s 1RR, CRPF and SOG launched Cardon and search operation(CASO) in Redwani after midnight following inputs about the presence of militants.
They said the militants opened fire after a search party tightened the cordon. The forces retaliated, leading to a gunfight in which two militants were killed.
Meanwhile, massive clashes erupted in the area soon after the news about the encounter spread. Keeping in view the law and order situation authorities have snapped internet services in the area.
