Srinagar, 02 May :

Two persons were arrested and 56 kilograms of Poppy were seized in separate incidents in Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir, the police said today.

Keeping its pace against drug menace a police party intercepted a truck on the Jammu-Srinagar Highway and found 46 kg of the contraband inside the vehicle.

However the truck driver managed to escape from the spot, the police said.

In another such incident, a truck was intercepted in Chenani area and 10 kilogram of Poppy was seized upon searching the vehicle.

Its driver Talib Hussain and conductor Sonu were arrested, the police said.

FIR’s have been registered in both the cases and we are tracing the driver and investigation has been initiated, police added.
