Militants Attack Police Vehicle In South Kashmir’s Pampore, One Cop Killed


Srinagar, 20 June :

Three cops were injured after militants attacked a police vehicle near Galander Bypass on Srinagar-Jammu highway area of Pampore in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Wednesday.

Official sources told GNS that militants fired upon a police vehicle (Tata 407 of IR 17th battalion) at Kandizal near Galander Bypass.

In the attack, three policemen sustained bullet wounds and were taken to nearby hospital for treatment where from they were shifted to army’s 92 base hospital Badamibagh, Srinagar.
One cop identified as Tanveer Ahmad who was hit by bullet injury in the head died and another cop Mudasir Ahmad has splinter injury in leg.

Deputy Inspector General of Police South Kashmir Range, Amit Kumar, confirmed the attack and said that one policeman has been killed and other two are being treated.

He said that the area has been cordoned off and a hunt has been launched to nab the assailants. (GNS)
